Edward George Ayden known as Ted (1897-1971)

Do you remember Ted Ayden? He used to run the Post Office in Benhall Green and knew everyone there and in the surrounding villages. As well as delivering telegrams he told old stories, wrote poems, sang and performed, was a hairdresser, baked cakes and was instrumental in getting Benhall Club built and the annual Flower Show started.

A lane was named after him in the village, Ayden Way, and the Benhall Village sign was erected in memory of Ted and can still be seen today at the entrance to Benhall Green off the B1121.

We play host to Saxmundham Chess Club here at the Club every Tuesday evening from 7pm. If you're new to the game and fancy learning how to play, or an experienced player that would like to get into the game on a competitive basis then you will be very much welcomed.

An evening for members to drop in and play board games. Choose from what's here or bring one along. Come along on your own or as a couple - an evening just to join in together and enjoy some company. From 7pm.

The Club has it's very own Benhall Badgers Darts team, who play in the local league and regularly host matches at the Club on Friday evenings.
